Rashomon won a Special Foreign Film Award, Arthur Freed won an Irving G Thalberg Award, and Gene Kelly was given an honorary oscar for his versatility as an actor, singer, choreographer, and dancer in MGM's production of An American In Paris. And also, When Worlds Collide became the first movie to automatically win a Special Effects Oscar due to being the only nominee in that category.
