Donald O Connor hosted the oscar from the Pantages at Los Angeles and Fredric March hosted from the NBC Theatre in New York. Walt Disney became the first person to win 3-4 Oscars in one night, all in the lesser known categories. All the starring players from that year's best picture winner From Here To Eternity were nominated with Donna Reed and Frank Sinatra winning. The show garned over 43 million viewers and names were privately called by Gary Cooper, and Shirley Booth with Donald O Connor revealing the winners.
