Hosted by Bob Hope at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, Ben Hur became the first film to win 11 Oscars in one night. Bob Hope received a Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award while 2 honorary Oscars were given out. One for Buster Keaton for his comedy routines becoming immortal and one for Lee De Forest for his innovation of sound films.
